To continue the long established selective breeding standards that have produced the Trakehner horse as we know it today and to make Trakehners available to the public so that people can experience the attributes of character, temperament, power, and love that exist in a horse of Trakehner origin.

Chuck and Danette Wharton own Lancaster Oaks, with their daughter Laura Wharton. The farm was founded in 1978 with the goal of breeding superior Trakehner horses and increasing the breed's popularity in the U.S. Chuck Wharton designed the farm with particular attention paid to details making Lancaster Oaks a noted breeding facility. In 1982, the ATA approved stallion Justiz was born at Lancaster Oaks. Justiz is sired by Lolos who was part of the original 1957 importation of Trakehners by Gerda Friedricks into North America. With Justiz, we have carefully orchestrated the covering of broodmares to produce our second ATA approved stallion, Favian, as well as many years of approved Trakehner horses. Lancaster Oaks aims to maintain the original Trakehner standard from Lolos while continually improving the bloodlines. Laura has successfully competed our Trakehners all the way through Grand Prix level and continues to train each year's new birth of foals. Our most recent mares taken for approval scored up to 57 points.

We pride our Lancaster Oaks family in that we have bred, exhibited for approval, trained, and competed our own horses. We hope you enjoy these horses as much as we do.
